Biography and Notes
Baptised 27 July 1924 at Barrow Gurney. Educated at Eton. Captain late Royal Dragoons.
In the Second World War joined the Royal Dragoons.
1949 left the Army and worked in a small merchant bank for a number of years. 1959 joined Gerrard and Reid (Discount House), now called Gerrard and National Discount Co. Ltd. of which he was Managing Director. Chairman Astley & Pearce Holdings Ltd., international foreign exchange and currency deposit brokers.
Appointed by The Queen to be Keeper of the Privy Purse and Treasurer to The Queen from January, 1981.
2 sons and 1 daughter: Edward Napier Tremayne Miles, born 1958 who gained the Galsworthy Scholarship (open) to New College, Oxford; Patrick William Miles, born 1960, educated Eton; Davina Mary Evelyn Miles, born 1964.
